Compression renders each page and rebuilds it as an optimized JPEG image inside a new PDF. Lower quality values usually reduce size more, while higher values retain more visual detail.
The output is compressed.pdf. Because pages are rasterized, selectable text, links, forms, annotations and vector details may no longer behave like the original.
